DJing the USS Russell Holiday Party
Of all the San Diego corporate event DJs out there, the navy service members of the USS Russell chose me to DJ and MC their holiday party at the Hilton Bayfront on December 2, 2022. The following write-up is based on San Diego DJ Track Star Staci’s super detailed outline for this Hilton Bayfront corporate event. The attire at this Navy holiday party was semi-formal.
THE HILTON BAYFRONT COCKTAIL HOUR & DINNER
While female corporate DJ Track Star Staci offers clients pre-curated background playlists to choose from, the USS Russell wanted me to sprinkle in some holiday tunes for the event.
- Crowd Demographics ➔ 50% Hispanic. Ages 20-45 mostly. Mostly male.
- Take Requests ➔ yes, at this San Diego military event DJ’s discretion
- Genres of Music ➔ variety of upbeat dance music
- Swearing ➔ mostly clean
- Line/Group Dances ➔ play it by ear

FORMALITIES AT THIS SAN DIEGO MILITARY EVENT
To make the holiday raffle faster and easier, corporate event DJ Track Star Staci suggested announcing the names of the winners instead of reading a long series of numbers. The timeline looked like (no dancing):
- 6:00 pm – cocktails
- 7:00 pm – dinner (plated)
- 7:15/7:30 pm – they will make a speech
- >> games (they will explain the game rules)
- 8:00 pm – dancing
- 11:00 pm – last dance

HILTON BAYFRONT CORPORATE EVENT DJ SET-UP
The US Navy opted for a custom set-up from DJ Track Star Staci, which included the following gear:
- One iconic Shure-55 microphone on a gooseneck stand
- Using the venue’s speakers
- Rane One DJ controller
- Allen & Heath sound mixer
- My unique dance floor lighting
